We are still working on getting a postcard from every state. I really want to thank everyone that has sent a card for us, especially those that passed on our information to others as well. You have helped us make this little homeschool project a huge success!

One really great thing that has happened is that our friends and family have not just sent cards from the U.S. we have been getting cards from all over the world. In starting this project we also came across a great website called www.postcrossing.com I am in love with this site!! We request an address and postcrossing emails us the address of another user from anywhere in the world. We send a card to them and when they receive it they register it online, once our card is registered postcrossing will send our address to another postcrossing user and they will send us a card. Our Summer 2011

Well the first thing thing we did this summer was have an awesome visit with my sister. Unfortunately I think I got a little preoccupied with showing her how to use her camera and forgot to use my own, so Tasha send me some pics please! We were blessed to be able to celebrate her birthday with her.

Next came Mr. Noah's birthday which was spent in one of his favorite places, the Pacific Science Center. We love the dinosaur area of course, but the boys had to be dragged away from this water sprayer. I love that they could play with the water and not get wet :)

After playing at the Science Center we picked up my dad from the airport and went on the church camping trip to the North Cascades. This is just one of the most beautiful areas in God's creation. It is sooooo green with moss and ferns and the trees are BIG! Oh and the waterfalls, there are waterfalls everywhere!

When we got home I jumped right back in to planning this year's VBS at Oak Harbor Church of Christ. We were Inside OUT and Upside DOWN on Mainstreet learning all about the stories Jesus told.

After VBS my mom came up for a visit. We had so much fun with her over the few weeks that she was here. The highlight was a trip to Sequim where we picked lavender together. Mmmm it smelled so good! The last part of our summer was spent enjoying our first experience with a Salmon Run. That was one fishing experience I will never forget. It was just beautiful where we were fishing and we would watch the sun come up. I used to trout fish when I was younger and I have never caught a fish as big as these Salmon. Jason has never been trout fishing so he is completely spoiled now.

We had a fantastic summer on Whidbey Island, it may be our last here so we are so thankful for all the amazing memories we made this year!

Postcard Exchange

Hi friends and family,
As most of you know, I am homeschooling my children. I would like to enlist your help in a little geography lesson. This summer we would like to exchange postcards with you. You would send a postcard to my boys, Gabriel and Noah, and write on it one fact about your state. We will in turn send you a postcard with two facts about the state of Washington. The goal being that we end up with postcards from all 50 states, they learn a little geography, and learn a lot about our state as well. What's in it for you? You get a hand written postcard that will be worth MILLIONS when Gabriel becomes a famous inventor and Noah a world renowned paleontologist.

Oh... Also, I don't know people in all 50 states so I would love it if you would pass this on to your friends and family!! ...or if your taking a trip this summer keep us in mind.

This is what my boys were doing while we were enjoying the shops in La Conner. A man passed by me and asked, "do you claim them?" I groaned, "yes those two are mine" haha!

2 years in Washington

Pickin' a tree

This year we wanted to try the "cut your own" christmas tree farm. We got there and got our saw and tree sled. We were so excited! After we walked the whole farm we realized that we didn't really like those type of trees. The kids didn't care they just wanted daddy to cut down a tree, so we found a nice pre-cut tree that we liked and daddy pretended to cut it down.

While Jason got the tree loaded the kids played in the haystack fort they had there.

Yes... I realize this is out of order, but I couldn't leave out the big holidays. I am so behind on this blog. Hope you enjoy the update :)

Enjoying Asheville with Mom and Dad

I am visiting my family in NC right now and my vacation is coming to a close. My sweet sweet husband took off from work to play mom so that I could go and have a much needed visit with my family. We have had a wonderful visit. The first days home were spent visiting my church family and sisters. We then headed to my parents house. My family has insured that my trip home would be filled to the gills with all sorts of fun activities. First stop was a new little restaurant my mom found called the Early Girl Eatery. MMMMmmmmm the food was yummy and all good fresh food. Even my orange juice was fresh squeezed!

I spent lots of time in book shops. This was a children's bookstore and this is where I love to be. I just love finding new treasures for my kids' bookshelves. I bought two books for my boys; The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stuart and The Blood Hungry Spleen and Other Poems About Our Parts by Allan Wolf.

Gettin' and Givin' LOTS of HUGS!!!
